GENERAL

What are we raising funds for?

The PTA General Fund supplies critical funds to support teachers and literacy programming. Funds are used to purchase classroom libraries, literacy materials for curriculum support, and author visits. Stay tuned for more updates coming soon!

I ordered signed books for the author visits, how do I get those?

The signed books will be delivered to your child at Laurelhurst School on the day of or soon after the author visit. There may be a chance to order books after the event, but we cannot guarantee that they will be signed.

Does my student need to make a fundraising goal AND a reading goal?

The school has a goal of $30,000, but your student (with your guidance!) is only encouraged to make a reading goal (minutes per day). You can edit the message on the individual 99Pledges page to reflect your student’s goal. Click the link you received in your email and it will open your private “manage participant” page where you can make these edits. Donations are not tied to whether or not the student completes their daily goal. The purpose of the goal is for personal motivation and a fun challenge.

DOCUMENTING + PLEDGES

How do we sign up for 99 pledges?

You will receive an email with a link to your student’s individual fundraising page. You don’t have to do anything to set up their page, but you can edit the text, photo, etc. if you would like. You can also find your child’s name by typing their name into the search box on the main fundraiser website

What is the difference between the reading tracker and 99pledges?

99Pledges is replacing Konstella for online donations. The reading tracker is only for documenting reading minutes.

Do I have to use the 99pledges platform?

Yes, this year, all pledges will have to be made through the online platform. If you receive cash or a check, please email roar4reading@gmail and we can give further assistance.

How does the ‘per-minute-read’ donation work?

Donors may choose to make a “per-minute” donation instead of a “flat donation” via the “Donate Now” link on 99Pledges. You can update minutes read daily on the 99pledges tracker or all at once at the end of week, which will calculate the total donation. R4R committee members will approve these final numbers before 99pledges charges anyone for per-minute donations in the event of typos/errors. We suggest that you include your reading goal in your participant page so donors can make an informed decision about your estimated minutes. For example, if your goal is 10 minutes per day, and grandma donates $1.00/minute, 10 minutes x 7 days x $1.00 = $70.00. Donors may also choose to make a “flat donation” if they prefer. If you elect not to change your page to reflect your goal, donors will see “140 minutes = 20 min/day” as the default set by admin.

What if I don’t want to share my child’s individual page?

You can share the main donation page if you do not want to send out your student’s individual page. 99Pledges takes privacy and security very seriously: They NEVER share nor sell email addresses (or any system data) to any third party. Some additional security measures to note: They only use first name/last initial, thereby making the name generic, pages are not indexed by search engines, and pages are only seen if they are shared by parents.

How do I customize my child’s individual 99pledges page?

Through your private profile management link you will be able to upload a photo, change your participant’s message, edit their goal, edit their estimated number, and utilize the online tracker.

Is my credit card information safe on 99Pledges?

From their website: “We take security EXTREMELY seriously, and actually never see the credit card information. We use Braintree as our payment processor who is used by such sites as Airbnb, OpenTable, and many more. Braintree is a Level 1 PCI DSS compliant service provider which means they meet the most stringent guidelines. They are also on Visa’s Global Compliant Provider List and MasterCard’s SDP List.”

You can learn more about their security here: https://www.braintreepayments.com/developers/security

My student did not receive any donations. Do they still turn in their reading tracker?

Yes! This is how they get credit for their reading minutes and enter to win prizes.
